Montrose Beach Chicago
The Chicago Beach Soccer Festival enters its 9th year as one of North America's largest Beach Soccer tournaments. The 2009 event drew 1,440 participants competing for prizes in divisions ranging from kids to adults. They were watched by more than 10,000 people throughout the weekend.
This year's event promises to be even bigger. It's on a weekend in which both of Chicago's professional soccer teams are in town, the Fire and Red Stars. It's Chicago's weekend of Soccer.
A few addtions have been made to this year's event and they include a few more divisions and the Health Care Village.
The Chicago Beach Soccer Festival is a joint effort of the Illinois State Soccer Association, the Illinois Youth Soccer Association, Chicago Fire, Chicago Soccer Stores and Chicago Red Stars. It's what happens when a soccer community comes together.

Beach Soccer Rules
Matches are 2 periods of equal time from 13 minutes depending on the division. This and a few other rules are referred to as the Chicago Rules.
Teams
Teams consists of 5* players on the field and unlimited substitutions from a selection of 3-7 players. Throw-ins & kick-ins mean the pace and flow of the game is much higher than regular soccer. Ankle guards, socks and sand soccer socks are allowed. NO SHOES!!!
* Teams are 4v4 plus a Goalkeeper
Notable Rule Differences
No Off Sides
No Indirect Kicks
Goal keepers can handle only one back pass before the ball crosses the halfway line
Person fouled must take kick unless unable to due to injury
No defensive walls
Players must be 5m (16.4 ft) from person taking direct kick
Out of play balls must be Kicked-In
5 second rule on re-starts
No Goal Kicks!!! Keepers must throw / toss the ball
Games cannot end 'til inflight ball stops
Sent off players may be replaced after 2 minutes
Dropped ball may only be from the halfway line

If you would like to donate your time and be a part of this year's event, please complete the attached volunteer form.
Although we need volunteers in all areas, we always have a higher demand for them to help with field construction before the tournament and after the tournament.
All volunteers will receive a tournament t-shirt as well as food at the event and entry for you and a guest to the VIP area.

Where is the tournament?
Montrose Beach which is about 5 mi (8 km) north of downtown Chicago. The Fields are just north of the Beach House.Click here for a map.
Can I take Public Transportation?
Yes, you can. The CTA's Montrose Ave bus actually stops across the street from the Beach near our fields. Click here for more information..
How about Parking?
There's plenty of free parking on the streets, however if you are unable to find street parking you may park in one of the lots nearby. There is a fee for parking in the lots.
DO NOT DRIVE OR PARK ON THE SIDE WALK. DROP OFF PARTICIPANTS ON THE SIDEWALK NEXT TO THE STREET.
DO NOT PARK IN AREAS DESIGNATED NO PARKING. THE CITY OF CHICAGO TOW'S WITH A QUICKNESS.
